* Watch a short film and answer the question: 
When will Sue Strobel see Dave Stuart tomorrow? 
	 a. after dinner 
	 b. after the movie 	 
	 c. at three pm 
Answer: 
Sue Strobel will see Dave Stuart at three p.m . 
 Different parts of the sentence can be emphasised in this way: 
- It is Sue Strobel will see Dave Stuart at three p.m. 
. ( Subject focus ) 
- It is Dave Stuart who Sue Strobel will see at three p.m. ( Object focus ) 
- It is at three p.m that Sue Strobel will see Dave Stuart . ( Adverbial focus )

Cleft constructions, then, exhibit the pattern: 
 It + be + focus + that/ who + clause 
  ( chính . làm gì ) 
( This is called a CLEFT SENTENCE because the original sentence has been divided (or "cleft") into two clauses )

Muốn nhấn mạnh vào chủ thể hay người gây ra hành động , người ta dùng câu chẻ để diễn đạt và đặt trọng tâm vào chủ thể đó . Để nhấn mạnh chủ ngữ , ta đưa chủ ngữ đó vào giữa it is/was và that. 
Chúng ta có thể dùng who ( chỉ người ), which ( chỉ vật , sự vật ) thay cho that khi nhấn mạnh chủ ngữ . 
Khi chủ từ số nhiều được nhấn mạnh , thì động từ trong mệnh đề quan hệ ở số nhiều
